Edit a project's settings

From the Project settings project settings section of a project, you may rename the project, set the project's priority level, indicate a targeted customer, set a parent project, show sub-projects, modify a project's description, and configure the project's effective date (only Project Managers can set an effective date).

All updates are automatically propagated across Upchain and its plugins.

Change the project's image

  1. On the Project settings page, click Change Photo.

    A file browser opens.

  2. Locate and select the image you want and click Open.

Note: File size should not exceed 200KB with 250 x 250 pixel dimensions.

The default Upchain logo is replaced with the new image. The image is visible on all pages associated to the project.

Edit the project's name

  1. On the Project settings page, click Edit.
  2. In the Project Name box, type in a new project name.
  3. Click Save.

Set the project's priority

  1. On the Project settings page, click Edit.
  2. From the Priority drop-down list, select from: Low, Medium, High, or Critical .
  3. Click Save.

Favorite a project

When you mark a project as a favorite, it is added to your Favorite projects lists. You may find your favorite projects in two places:

  • Upchain main dashboard.
  • CAD Plugin > Context Selector > My Projects > FAVORITE PROJECTS.

To favorite a project:

  1. On the Project settings page, click the Favorite checkbox.
  2. Click the Favourite checkbox to remove the project from your favorites.

You may flag up to 50 projects as favorite.

Set or change the project's customer

  1. On the Project settings page, click Edit.
  2. Click the Customer drop-down list and select the desired customer.
  3. Click Save.
Note: If a parent project is already selected, then you cannot change the customer. This is because both parent and child projects must belong to the same customer. You must first change or remove the parent project assignment to be able to change the customer.

Set or change the project's parent project

  1. On the Project settings page, click Edit.
  2. Click the Parent project drop-down list and select the desired project.
  3. Click Save.
Note: The list of available parent projects is governed by the assigned customer. In other words, both parent and child projects must belong to the same customer. You may need to change the customer before setting or changing the parent project.

View a project's subprojects

  1. On the Project settings page, click Show subprojects.

A dialog opens and shows a list of all subprojects of the current project.

Edit the project's effective date

See Effective date for projects.

Edit the project's description

  1. On the Project settings page, click Edit.
  2. In the Description box, type in a description of the project.
  3. Click Save.

Configure the project's privacy setting

Public projects enable anyone in the tenant to see the project, its members, and the data contained within that project, such as the bill of materials and project plan. This is especially useful if you have projects that are only used to store information that you want all members of your tenant to access by default, such as a library of standard parts to be accessed by all of your engineers, or a set of documents to be reference by all of your Upchain users.

Private projects (default setting) restrict the ability to access the project to project members only.

  1. On the Project settings page, click Edit.
  2. In the Privacy section , select Public or Private.
  3. Click Save.
