What’s New in the October 2024 Update

Version: 2.1.10

Release Date: October, 2024

Release Notes

Updates:

  • Model Rendering Logic: Workshop XR now loads and displays the model based on more advanced and robust sorting characteristics.

  • Improved Scale Model Experience: More of your model can be displayed, and the experience of manipulating the model has been slightly improved.

  • Reduced Memory Usage: Advancements in our technology have allowed for reduced memory usage in downloading and displaying geometry.

  • Download Progress Indication: The progress of geometry being downloaded is now more intuitive and predictable, thanks to improved rendering logic.

  • Ghost Mode Control: We have removed the button/feature to control Ghost Mode while using smooth motion. Users now pass through all geometry by default while walking. However, collision can still be enabled for teleportation-based locomotion.

What’s Fixed:

Pairing

  • Resolved an issue where pairing would fail after authentication for users who had been previously signed out.

Workshop

  • Improved performance when a model is loaded on the table in the Workshop.
  • Resolved an issue where avatars could spawn into the floor upon entering the Workshop.
  • Improved the speed and visuals of the scale model manipulation on the table in the Workshop.
  • The default view of the model on the Workshop table now matches the view in the ACC LMV.

Console

  • Resolved an issue where users intermittently lost the ability to ‘Go To’ or ‘Gather’ specific users.
  • Resolved an issue in the settings panel where the "Manage" button was greyed out, incorrectly indicating it was disabled.

Model Loading

  • Resolved a crash that could occur when users entered a 1:1 session.
  • Resolved several crashes related to memory management issues.
  • Resolved an issue where users were unable to teleport onto geometry until high Levels of Detail (LODs) were loaded.
  • Resolved an issue where some textures or materials were missing from models.
  • Unsupported materials now load as gray, as opposed to black.

Tools

  • Resolved an issue preventing users from adding more than one watcher to newly placed issues.
  • Users without "Manage File" permissions in a workshop will now see a permission tooltip when hovering over the Files button.
  • Resolved an issue where, after enabling properties in VR and closing the Properties panel with the "X" button, the Properties icon remained highlighted, incorrectly indicating it was still active. The icon now correctly shows as disabled when hovered over.
  • Resolved an issue where the properties panel previously displayed only the first line of metadata unless users hovered over it. Now, all metadata is shown without needing to hover.
  • Reduced the font size and UI of the Measurement Display to make measurements more legible.

General

  • Resolved a crash experienced when teleporting in the Workshop and 1:1 sessions.
  • When a user leaves a multiplayer session in the Workshop to go to the Home Space, they will no longer receive a notification that other users have left the Workshop.
  • Resolved network-related issues.

Known Issues and Workarounds:

Workshop

  • After Wi-Fi connection is restored, the console in the Workshop will show available Workshops instead of files or issues.
  • Workshops created prior to February 2024 may not allow the visibility of elements to be disabled and reenabled for single users and networked users.
  • Exiting and reentering a Workshop may cause a user’s audio to sound quieter. To fix this, users should force close the app and relaunch.
  • Users may not face the table after spawning or landing in a Workshop.
  • When users enter the Workshop from the home screen, the core menu may incorrectly spawn into the table.
  • Users may have to click Enter several times to enter a Workshop.
  • An active pointer may display randomly within the Workshop. This pointer is not attached to any controller. The random pointer can be seen both within the Workshop and during 1:1 model review.
  • When all users leave a workshop, their user icons are not removed from the Workshop thumbnail in the web.
  • Users may have some difficulty positioning the model on the Workshop table.

Console

  • The console may get lost inside geometry when flying up or down, or teleporting inside objects.
  • In the Model Browser, selecting an element to isolate via the search function does not hide other elements in the shared model, despite the Model Browser showing all other elements as disabled.
  • When a user is in model review with the keyboard enabled on their core menu, and a new model is shared, all users are sent to the workshop and the console closes. However, the keyboard remains open for all core menu panels. The expected behavior is that the keyboard should close when the console closes.
  • User can select any file type when only RVT and NWD are supported in Workshop XR.

Model Loading

  • Complex, federated models may not load materials properly.

Visibility

  • Elements listed under the Models tab may appear on the right half of the screen, which can cause element names to be cut off.

Tools

  • The Issue Type no longer appears on the preview pop-up card after updating issue details.
  • When using voice-to-text, numbers may not populate as expected into the text field.
  • When selecting an element through the Properties tool and viewing its metadata, only the first line of data is shown. When the user points to the panel, the entire data will show.
  • If measurements are very close to each other or clumped together, they may become hard to select for deletion.
  • When users are viewing a model in 1:1 and use the 'Go-To' feature, or when they are gathered by another user, they do not end up in the correct position. Instead, the users are positioned at the default location in front of the table.
  • The Properties panel will close if the user selects a surface with the same name as the one previously selected.

General

  • If a user’s permissions are changed in an Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) project while they are working in the Workshop XR web app, the changes do not take effect until the user refreshes their page.
  • Attempting to upload a recently deleted or duplicate file without refreshing the page may result in the upload action failing to initiate.
  • When a user is on the splash screen while launching the app and loses network connection, the home screen will show blank. When the network reconnects, the home screen does not recover and remains blank.
  • Rotation with the Quest 3 thumb stick may be overly sensitive in VR.
  • While in VR, users who are in the workshop are not visible to others viewing the workshop from the home screen. Only when a user selects "Enter" on the workshop are they able to see users who are already present in the workshop.
  • When an issue is added to a 3D view of a specific model and the view is switched to a different 3D model, the issue sphere appears in an incorrect location in the new model.
