Joining a Workshop from the Web
Autodesk Workshop XR is accessible to non-VR users, allowing more stakeholders to participate in immersive design reviews directly from desktop web browsers. This feature makes collaboration easier and more inclusive.
With a Workshop XR license, non-VR users can join collaborative reviews straight from the web without the need for a headset. This enhances accessibility, allowing more participants to contribute to the design process.
Getting Started
Check Credentials and Permissions
- Each user must have their own Workshop XR license and the correct permissions to join.
- Check with your Workshop XR admin for permissions information.
How to Join a Workshop from the Web
- Log into workshop.autodesk.com
- Select the project that contains the workshop you will be reviewing.
- Select the Workshop you will be meeting in.
- Click “Join on Web”.
- You will be sent into a “waiting room”.
Autonomous Movement
Users can move freely inside a Workshop Web App without needing a VR headset or a VR host. Autonomous movement lets reviewers navigate models at their own pace.
Navigation with your keyboard:

Share Files
Add or swap models without waiting for a headset user.
- Select Files on the left panel.
- Select the blue "Files" button.

- Click model icon to share new file to the table.
- Press "Done".

Viewing Issues
- View issue details under the issue panel.
- Edit issue details on the panel—ideal for collaboration, as typing on a keyboard is easier than in VR.
- When the VR user is making or viewing an issue, the issue panel will open for the user joining on the web.
Follow
Users can choose who to follow during the design review.
- Click the People panel.
- Click the three dots next to the user you wish to follow.
- Click “follow”.
- Once following, autonomous movement is no longer available. Users will not be able to look around and the point of view is locked to the user being followed.

To unfollow:
- The user being followed will be listed at the top of the page and you can unfollow.

- Or select unfollow in the people menu—same as how the user followed.
Pointing
Web and VR users can both point in the model to highlight areas of interest. The name of the participant pointing will appear next to the laser point for other users to see.

Mute All
Any participant—VR or Web—can mute all others with a single action. This is especially useful on the web, where participants use varied audio setups.
Benefits
- Control: Anyone can quickly manage background noise.
- Clarity: Keeps conversations focused and distraction-free.
- Consistency: Ensures smooth collaboration across mixed devices and setups.
Settings
- When joining on the web, the browser auto selects the system default microphone and speakers. This can be switched to a preferred speaker or microphone in Settings.
- The first time you join from the web, you'll receive a notification to allow audio. Users MUST allow this for proper sound and audio capabilities. If you accidentally skip over this, check your browser settings.
