Pipe reference (Form)

In the Form contextual environment, the Pipe tool creates complex topologies based on a selected set of lines and curves in Fusion.

Design > Form > Create > Pipe pipe icon - form

The Pipe tool in the Form workspace allows flexibility to create a T-Spline body following a path. There are several options available in this tool to allow the creation of a surface or body.

The Pipe dialog is divided into three tabs (Sections, End Types, Segments) each tab has access to the Global Settings. Each tab has access to the Global Settings.

Sections

Path: Specify the edges or sketch entities to use for the Pipe segments.

Chain Selection: Check this box to have adjacent edges or sketch entities selected automatically.

Section: Select sections to modify or create more sections by selecting on the path. You can change the position, angle, and diameter of sections after selecting one. Hold shift to select multiple sections. There are also reset and delete section icons to return the segment specifications back to the global settings or remove the section.

Global Diameter: Specifies the diameter for all segments.

End Types

Handle: Allows you to select one of the ends by default both ends are selected.

Open: Creates a T-Spline surface.

Square: Adds a surface to close off the Pipe creating a T-Spline body.

Spike: Extends a point 1 segment further from the endpoint closing off the Pipe creating a T-Spline body.

Segments

Segment: Allows you to select points from the sketch or edges to manually add points near a specified area. By default all sketch entities are selected and a Density slider exists to add or remove segments globally exists. Selecting a particular segment allows you to manually enter the number of segments desired in that location (near sketch or edge feature).

Global Settings

Display Mode: Display the Pipe in box mode or smooth mode. Use box mode to maximize performance. Note that the shape of the body or surface will be reflected after clicking ok to exit the tool.

Curve Tolerance: Specifies a tolerance value to join segments in the Pipe.

Display Curve Splits: Displays a number at the end or intersections of segments. The number indicates the number of segments that intersect at that location.
