Component values

The component value represents the specific electrical charateristics of a component, such as:

  • Resistance (ohms)
  • Capacitance (farads)
  • Inductance (henries)

For other components, the value may represent a part number or other identifying information.

Both the component value and its name are paired with the component symbol in a schematic to complete the component definition. The value is used in the Bill of Materials (BOM) and other reports to identify the component in the design.
