Object properties

Electronics designs come with a lot of data. For example, a component can have a value, a reference designator, multiple footprints, attributes etc.

Consult the board manufacturer

If you plan to have your PCB professionally manufactured, ask your board manufacturer whether they stipulate particular values for these parameters.

  • track width
  • shape of solder lands
  • diameter of solder lands
  • dimensions of SMD pads
  • text size and thickness
  • drill hole diameters
  • number of signal layers
  • in case of multilayer boards: manufacturing directions for Blind and Buried vias and composition of the board
  • clearance values between different potentials
  • parameters concerning solder stop mask and cream frame

Knowing this information beforehand can save you time and money.

The Change tool in Fusion Electronics enables you to modify the properties of objects in your design. You can change the value of a component, the width of a wire, the size of a via, the size of a text object, the unit of a dimension, the ratio of a label, or the class of a net, component, wire, pad, via, text object, dimension, label, or attribute set. For example:

  • Cap sets the shape of the end of a wire arc
  • Class refers to net class
  • Display values apply to libraries
  • Dline, Dtype, and Dunit configure the dimensioning applied to circuit boards
  • Ratio and Size apply to label text
  • Attribute Set applies to components
Note: Values can also be modified from an object's right-click menu or from the Inspector persistent panel.
