The Design Web Format (DWF) is a compressed, secure format used to publish CAD data. Using the Design Review, you can present an accurate visual representation of Autodesk Inventor assembly and part files, weldments, sheet metal parts, presentations, and drawings. Published representations are used to share information with customers, vendors, marketing, and others who do not have Autodesk Inventor installed.
Access: | |
---|---|
Click Export Export to DWF. |
Express |
Select to publish the static exploded views . Does not publish bill of materials data, design views, or positional representations. All unsaved working changes including the current camera position publish to the DWF file. Components invisible in Autodesk Inventor publish and shown in the DWF model palette as hidden. Express would give you a static exploded view published. |
Complete |
Published DWF file contains all presentation views (including animations and assembly instructions) and the associated Autodesk Inventor assembly, along with its design views, positional representations, and BOM. Note: Only the active level of detail representations publishes.
Click here for a list of content that publishes with the Complete option. |
Custom |
Set user options to publish presentation views with an animation capability, with textual instructions and parts lists for individual sequences. |
Note: Any options set in the Properties and General tabs are applied when publishing using the Express, Complete, or Custom options.
|
Publish |
Click to generate the DWF file. |
Cancel |
Click to close the dialog box and discard any modifications. |
When you select the Custom option, the Assembly and Presentation tabs appear to set publishing options.
Bill of Materials |
|
Currently an assembly has three ways to view bill of Materials data: Model Data, Structured, and Parts-only. The Model Data bill of materials view is not considered to be a bill of materials. It is not an option when exporting the BOM for an assembly. If either the Structured BOM or the Parts-only BOM options are disabled, you cannot publish the disabled BOM view to the DWF file. Only enabled BOMs can be published. |
|
Structured BOM |
Check the box to enable publishing structured BOM. |
Parts-only BOM |
Check the box to enable publishing parts only BOM. |
Design View |
|
A design view representation is created in the assembly environment and preserves an assembly display state. Note: You cannot publish any private design views (design view representation external to the assembly file). Also, no private design views appear in the Assembly tab.
Select the views to publish. If you selected a design view other than Master during publish in the Assembly, you cannot delete the selected view and the Master from the Assembly tab. In the Design Review, all views publish to a folder with the default name “Published Views.” Within this folder, Representations, Position, and Presentation folders are created. |
|
Express |
Select to publish no design views. |
Complete |
Select to publish all design views (if an assembly contains them). |
Positional Representations |
|
Positional representations capture kinematic “snapshots”” of assemblies to allow for motion studies and evaluation of an assembly in various mechanistic states. Positional representations are saved in the parent assembly and can be retrieved at any time for further analysis or modification. Note: To publish positional representations, activate Master positional representation.
The Assembly tab displays representations found in an active file. Select the representations you want to include in the DWF file. |
Select the presentation views (including animations and assembly instructions) that you want to publish to the DWF file. |
|
Note: Only the active level of detail representations publishes.
|
|
The view selection is presented in a tree control. The top-most node displays the active presentation file name and supports quick selection for all views. |
|
Animation |
Select the option to include presentation views containing tweaks for publish with animation capability. Views without tweaks are static. |
Instructions |
When this option is selected, any instructions in the presentation views publish. |
