Creates the absolute or relative kinematic values (trajectory, velocity, and acceleration) of one or more points placed anywhere on a component. Appears in the graphics window and the Output Grapher. The Trace folder and nodes are located in the Output Grapher browser. Traces can be output to 2D and 3D sketches and used to evaluate interference, create profiles, and so on.
Access: |
On the Output Grapher toolbar, click Add Trace. |
Origin |
Specifies a geometric entity defining a point in the graphics window or in the Inventor construction tree. |
Reference |
Specifies the component that is the reference for the trace and proposes the center of construction of the existing bodies. The reference coordinate system of the trace is the construction coordinate system of the part (if the reference component is a part) or of the subassembly (if the reference component is a subassembly). By default, the kinematics of the point are calculated in the absolute reference frame (the global coordinate system of the assembly). |
Selects any combination of the following for a point you want to trace and shows the selected vectors in the graphics window:
Selecting one or more vector types enables the Scale, if available, and Color parameters for the selected vectors. |

Selects any combination of the following for a point you want to trace and shows the selected curves in the Output Grapher.
Note: It is not necessary to enable the graphic display to get the numerical values in the Output Grapher.

Scale |
Adjusts the size of the vector to the left as it appears in the graphics window. Use this option to make all of the vector visible in the graphics window. The default is 0.01. |
Color |
Opens the Microsoft Windows standard color box so you can select a color for the vector to the far left. Scale and Color are available only for vector types you select to show in the graphics window. |
