Grapher Options

Manages the appearance of curves in the graph window.

Access:

On the Output Grapher browser or on the graph window, right-click anywhere and select Grapher Options.

Clicking Apply modifies the appearance of curves according to the parameters chosen without closing the dialog box.

Min. Max. Axes

Automatic scale

Sets the X and Y axis scales to the automatic settings.

The default is to use Automatic scale.

Clear the check mark to set Minimum and Maximum parameters for the X and Y values.

X values

Sets the minimum and maximum values for the abscissa.

Y values

Sets the minimum and maximum values for the ordinate.

  • Minimum
  • Maximum

Axes Intervals

Display grid

Displays a dotted line grid in the background of the graph window. By default, the grid is displayed.

Graduations

  • Automatic

The Output Grapher sets the intervals for the abscissa and the ordinate.

By default, the Output Grapher sets the grid intervals.

Clear the check box to enable the other fields in this group.

  • Number of values on X

Sets the number of values labeled on the X axis.

  • Number of values on Y

Sets the number of values labeled on the Y axis.

  • Number of Significant digits

Sets the number of significant digits displayed in abscissa and ordinate axes.

Values Table

Predefined format

Uses the standard format for the numerical values as they are displayed in the Output Grapher.

The default is to use the standard format.

Clearing this box enables fields in the Parameters group.

Parameters

  • Decimals

Sets the number of digits after the decimal point.

This value affects the precision of the values used in the Output Grapher. When setting the precision consider both the precision of the vales as calculated and the precision that the axes intervals allow displayed.

The default is to show five digits after the decimal point. This precision setting is the maximum.

  • Exponent

Indicates that values are expressed as exponents for the power of 10.

The default is to express values as exponents.

  • Sign

The Output Grapher shows the plus sign (+), when appropriate. The grapher always shows the minus sign (-), when appropriate.

The default is to show plus signs.
