Add a Reserved Area on the Prototype

Learn how you can reserve more paper space, by adding a reserved area block to the prototype.

While you detail, Advance Steel calculates the space available to fit the drawings by subtracting the space occupied by the page header from the total paper space. To reserve more space, you can add a block called ADVANCESTEEL_RESERVED_AREA to the prototype, defined by a rectangle.

  1. Create a rectangle in the area you want to reserve, using the AutoCAD _Rectangle command.
  2. Start the _Block command.
  3. The Block Definition dialog appears. Type the name ADVANCESTEEL_RESERVED_AREA in the name field.
  4. Leave the Base point coordinates at 0,0,0.
  5. Select the rectangle.
  6. Make sure the Block unit settings match the prototype units. For example, set the block unit settings to inches if the prototype is set to Imperial.
  7. Click OK. When prompted that the block definition was changed, click Redefine.
  8. Click OK to close the Edit Attributes dialog.
  9. Save the prototype.
