Smart Dimension Points Jumping to Nearby Valid Points

The smart dimension points have a feature that allows them to work on invalid points if a nearby valid point is found along a direction that is perpendicular on the dimension line.

This feature will make the point "jump" during update, extending or shortening the dimension line.

A common case appears, for example, when the mid-point of a beam end is selected instead of the beam corners, for a dimension line along the beam length. Because the mid-point is aligned with the corners of the beam, during update, the point will "jump" to one of the corners.

This behavior has the following characteristics that should be taken into consideration:

  1. It provides more flexibility over invalid dimension lines, allowing Advance Steel to transform those invalid points into valid ones for further updates.
  2. It will work only in cases where the "jumping" points don't change the dimension value, so the move will always happen along a direction perpendicular to the dimension direction.
  3. The points that trigger this behavior will be flagged as invalid (marked with a red circle) by Advance Steel.
