Miscellaneous Enhancements (What's New in 2022.3)
Several additional new enhancements have been made to improve your grading optimization workflows.
2022.3 Updates
- Object properties now appear in panels along the right side of Grading Optimization instead of dialogs.
- The progress meter on the Optimization Toolbar has been enhanced to display stages to indicate what has completed and what is currently processing.
- Terminology changes have been made for more clarity. Functionality in the following has not changed. Also note that some videos contain references to their previous names.
- The grading object Elevation Offset has been renamed to Offset Points.
- The Minimum Zone Inclination zone property has been renamed to Minimum Drain Inclination. For more information, see Grading Limit Properties Dialog and Zone Properties Dialog.
2022.2 Updates
The order of grading objects in the Grading Object Tool Palette and Grading Objects Browser have changed with the more commonly used tools at the top off the list. This change was made to both Grading Optimization and Civil 3D. For more information, see Grading Object Browser.
You can now zoom to a specific grading object from the Civil 3D Grading Objects Browser. Right-click the object and select Zoom To from the context menu.
When selected, the higher side of the curb now displays as a shaded line. The higher side of the curb displays as shaded; the thinner line is the low side of the curb. This was updated to match the behavior of the retaining wall object.

2022.1 Updates
The Volumes chart of the Convergence Plot Analysis dialog has been updated to better clarify the Balance Cut and Fill objective.
- The chart now displays volume with cubic units.
- The chart now displays the net earthwork volume (cut minus fill) if specified in the Optimization Options dialog.
You can now zoom to a specific grading object from the Grading Objects Browser. Right-click the object and select Zoom To from the context menu.
When placing zones in a drawing, you can now use the Inclination Picker tool to specify the Inclination Direction of the Minimum Zone Inclination.
The Save Optimization Result dialog has been improved to include searchable selection dialogs for surface, feature line, and point styles.
