Data Connector for Dynamo (AEC Data Model and Data Exchanges) (Beta)
Many early adopters who are enthusiastic about leveraging data are using visual scripting platforms such as Dynamo and Grasshopper. So, we are introducing the Autodesk Data Connector for Dynamo, which allows you to retrieve data from data exchanges built from Autodesk Data Models. This connector is currently built around the GraphQL APIs for the AEC Data Model and Data Exchange.
By using the Autodesk Data Connector for Dynamo, you can take advantage of the powerful nodes, customization options, and automation capabilities that make Dynamo such a popular tool. This package provides all the necessary components to navigate to your desired Autodesk hub, project, and data source, enabling seamless connection between your Dynamo graph and cloud data.
Once connected, you can unpack and filter the data using a range of powerful nodes. These nodes allow you to apply specific criteria to filter the data and extract only the parameters that are of interest to you. Once you have the desired data within your graph, you can utilize it in various ways. For instance, you can load it into Revit projects, extract it to spreadsheets, or create custom visualizations.
You can create data exchanges from the following GraphQL data points:
AEC Data Model Nodes:
Use the AEC Data Model nodes to read and retrieve parameters fetched through the AEC Data Model GraphQL API within the Dynamo environment. These nodes are specifically designed to work with the AEC Data Model data exchanges, which focus on retrieving parameters rather than geometries.
By using string-based navigation, you can query the design data extracted from Revit 2024 models that have been uploaded to the Dynamo sandbox account on ACC Docs. This allows you to navigate through your ACC hub(s), project(s), and design(s) to retrieve granular data such as elements, parameters, and their corresponding values.
To retrieve only the data you need, you can create tailored GraphQL queries. These queries enable you to specify the specific parameters and information you are interested in, ensuring that you retrieve the most relevant data for your purposes.
Data Exchange Nodes:
Use the Data Exchange nodes to read and retrieve parameters fetched through the Data Exchange GraphQL APIs within the Dynamo environment. These nodes are specifically designed to work with the data exchanges, which focus on retrieving parameters rather than geometries.
