Edit Project Download Options
After the initial project download, you can choose to edit the download options for sheets, photos, and attachments/references to apply to subsequent project syncs.
- Tap the More menu
to the right of a downloaded project.
- Tap Edit download options.
- Edit your download options as required.
The new download options will be active from the next project sync, for example if you choose to sync the project after being notified of project updates, or if you refresh a project at any time.
Download Option Interactions and Considerations
Turning a Download Option from On to Off
If the sheets, photos, or attachments/references download options were previously turned on, and you then change the download option to a lesser setting or off, the items that were automatically downloaded in the previous project sync are not removed from the device on the next sync.
Files Download Options in Docs
Files download options work slightly differently because files and folders can be set to download automatically to a mobile device in the Docs tool.
- If a file or folder is not set to download automatically in Docs, but one of these files is referenced by an item such as an issue (and the Attachments/References > Issues toggle is on in the mobile download options), the file is downloaded.
- If the download option in Docs was initially turned on for a file or folder, and is then turned off, the affected files are removed from the device. However, any files that meet the specified mobile download options are redownloaded.
- The latest versions of files are always downloaded to mobile devices, even if the versions of the files that are attached or referenced by items are older.
Downloaded Photos
When specifying the photos download options for a project, take note of the following considerations:
For any photos that have not yet downloaded, you can manually download them even if they don't match the selected download option. Photos that have not yet been downloaded are shown as follows:
- iOS – All photos that have not been downloaded are represented by a placeholder. You can tap to manually download any of these photos.
- Android - All photos that have not been downloaded are represented by a spinning icon. If there is an internet connection, any photos in your view will automatically be downloaded. For example, if you are viewing a form, the photos referenced in that form are automatically download.
After subsequent project syncs, all downloaded photos remain on your device.
If you change your photos download option from No photos to All photos, all photos will be downloaded on all subsequent project syncs as long as that download option remains the same. This includes those photos which have been added as references to other items (for example, a photo referenced in a form or issue).
If you select one of the time-based photo download options, for example Photos from last 7 days, only those photos added to the project in the last 7 days (excluding today) are downloaded. If today is March 28, any photos added between the March 21-27 inclusive will be downloaded. On March 29, if the same download option is still selected, the date range for downloads will now be March 22-28, which means that any photos added since the previous date range (in this case, on March 28) will be downloaded.
Any downloaded photos remain in the Photos tool in the app unless manually deleted from the project on the web. In our example, this means that photos from March 21, which now falls outside the current date range, will remain on your device.
Attachment/Reference Interactions
Items such as sheets or photos can be both an individual piece of data, and also be an attachment or reference related to another item. For these items, two sets of download options might apply. In such cases, all items that meet each set of criteria are downloaded. Items do not need to meet both sets of criteria to be downloaded. In addition, only those items that are directly referenced by or attached to an issue, RFI, or submittal are downloaded.
For example, consider the following download options:
- Photos - Photos from last 7 days
- Attachments/References > Issues toggle - On
Based on these options, all references and attachments associated with active issues in the project are downloaded, even if they don't meet the Photos criteria:
- Asset A is referenced by Issue A, and Issue A is Open. Asset A is downloaded per the Attachments/References download criteria.
- Photo A was created five days ago, and is not attached to or referenced by any other item. Photo A is downloaded per the Photos download criteria.
- Photo B was created ten days ago, and is attached to (or referenced by) Issue B. Issue B is Open. Even though it doesn't meet the Photos download criteria, Photo B is downloaded per the Attachments/References download criteria.
- Photo C was created ten days ago, and is attached to (or referenced by) Issue C. Issue C is Closed. Photo C is not downloaded as the issue is not active, and the photo also doesn't meet the Photos download criteria.
- Asset A is referenced by Issue A, and Issue A is Open. Asset A references Photo B. Asset A is downloaded. Photo B is not downloaded per the Attachments/References download criteria, as it's not directly linked to Issue A. However, it could be downloaded per the Photos download option, if it satisfies the criteria.
Sync Status and Project Updates
Each downloaded project listed under On this device contains the following details:
Last sync time
Storage size of the project
Status indicators and information
The status indicator icons are:
Updates available: There are changes on the web which are not on your device. Tapping Sync allows you to receive updates made to the project, including new files, sheets, and published markups where relevant.
Project up to date: Your project is up to date with the web product and doesn't need syncing.
Errors during syncing: This indicates that there were errors uploading your changes to the web, or errors downloading changes from the web to your device. Click View to access the Sync status page and view the relevant upload or downloads tab.
- Uploads tab: Either Discard all or Retry all your changes.
- Downloads tab: You can view the errors to see if they prevent you from working on the project. To try to resolve the errors, you can sync the whole project again by accessing the Projects page and tapping the More menu
next to the project and tap Refresh project.
See the Sync Troubleshooting topic for more information on sync errors and troubleshooting steps.
App Refresh
You may need to fully refresh the app to receive updates if you've had the app open while you're working.
- Access the Projects screen:
- iOS: Tap the circular arrow icon at the top right
- Android: Tap the More menu
at the top right of the screen and tap Refresh.
