Scrub, Pan, and Zoom in a Clip
Scrubbing in a Clip
Scrub through a clip by doing one of the following:
Drag the positioner along the timebar.
When you scrub through an edit sequence (a series of clips edited together), you can constrain the jogging to the current segment in the sequence by holding down the Ctrl keyboard shortcut while scrubbing.
Use the arrow keys on your keyboard.
By default, pressing the left arrow and right arrow keys steps frame-by-frame.
Place the pointer in the viewer, above the control bar.
The cursor will change to indicate it can jog/shuttle the clip. The further from the centre of the clip the cursor is placed, the faster the shuttling.
Zooming in a Clip
Zoom the image in the Player, Full Screen Player, Triptych, Source-Sequence view, Conform Player, and in the Viewports by doing one of the following:
Use the Continuous Zoom keyboard shortcut by holding down the Ctrl + Space keys, clicking in a Player/Viewport, and dragging left to zoom out or right to zoom in.
Use the Zoom In and Zoom Out keyboard shortcuts. If you are using a layout with multiple viewports, select the desired viewport first. The keyboard shortcuts are respectively assigned to:
- Ctrl + Space + Up Arrow and Ctrl + Space + Down Arrow in the Flame keyboard shortcuts profile.
- Command/Windows + Pad+ and Command/Windows + Pad- in the Smoke Classic keyboard shortcuts profile.
Use the Zoom factor numeric field or a zoom preset in its associated drop-down button.
Select Zoom from the Tools drop-down button, click in a Player/Viewport, and drag left to zoom out or right to zoom in.
Place the cursor over a Player / Viewport and use the mouse's scroll wheel.
Panning in a Clip
Pan the image in the Player, Full Screen Player, Triptych, Source-Sequence view, Conform Player, and in the Viewports by doing one of the following:
Use the Continuous Pan keyboard shortcut by holding down the Space key, clicking in a Player/Viewport, and drag the image.
Select Pan from the Tools drop-down button, and then in the Player/Viewport, click + drag the image.
Bring a Clip to Home Value
Bring a clip to its default zoom factor (100%) and centre it in the Player/Viewport by doing one of the following:
Click the Home button.
Use the Image Window: Home Toggle keyboard shortcut. By default, the keyboard shortcut is assigned to:
- Home in the Flame keyboard shortcuts profile.
- Ctrl + Home in the Smoke Classic keyboard shortcuts profile.
By default, the default zoom factor for the Home operation is 100%. This value can be modified using the Default Home numeric field in the Image Size Preferences.
Fit the Image in a Player/Viewport
Fit the image inside a Player/Viewport by doing one of the following:
Click the Fit button.
Use the Fit in View keyboard shortcut. By default, the keyboard shortcut is assigned to Shift + Home in the Smoke Classic keyboard shortcuts profile. It is not assigned in the Flame keyboard shortcuts profile.
Fit the image by default using the Fit by Default setting in the Image Size Preferences.
By default, the Fit operation only fits a larger image in a smaller Player/Viewport. This behaviour can be modified by enabling Fits Allow Upscale in the Image Size Preferences.
Locking the Zoom and Pan for all Players and Viewports
The zoom and pan values of multiple viewports can be linked using the Link button available in Batch, Effects, the Source-Sequence view, the Triptych Player, and in most Tools tab modules.
When enabled, zoom and pan changes made in a Player/Viewport are applied in a relative manner to all other viewports. However, the Home and Fit operations are applied to all viewports.
