Work with the Simulation Guide

Activate the guide, and learn the various actions that close the guide.

The Simulation Guide helps you to prepare a model for simulation and interpret results, and to navigate simulation workflows. The Guide opens in a new, dockable window. Only one Guide window can be open during your Inventor session.

Activate the guide on the ribbon

Click Stress Analysis tab Guide panel Guide

Activate the guide on a context menu

  1. In the browser, right-click the appropriate node:
    • Constraints Modify constraints at any time in the process, report the forces and moments for the constraint type, and suppress constraints.
    • Loads Define or modify load parameters, and suppress loads before you rerun the analysis.
    • Contacts Activate the Automatic Contacts, evaluate the component, and establish contact conditions for the simulation.
    • Results Make the selected simulation result current, and display it in the graphics region. Available only after results are calculated.

Use the Guide

The Guide information and queries display in decision-tree format reflective of potential simulation workflows.

  • To view expandable sections in the content, click Note.
  • To navigate along the workflow decision-tree, click the appropriate link.
  • To view the Help and Skill Builders, click the links.
  • To launch a command, click the black, bold command text.

Close the Guide

The following are some of the actions that close the Guide:

  • Run a simulation.
  • Create a simulation case.
  • Switch edit focus to another document.
