About demand patterns

In InfoWorks WS Pro, demand patterns are defined in demand diagrams. Consumer demand varies throughout the day, and there are additional variations due to the day of the week, and the time of year. The InfoWorks WS Pro approach to demand is based on the hypothesis that consumers belonging to a particular category will behave in much the same way.

Demand diagrams contains one or more demand categories which define the demand pattern for an individual type of consumer. For example, domestic use could be split into several categories, each one corresponding to a different part of the supply area with its own characteristic pattern. Losses can be described as a separate Demand Category. Refer to the InfoWorks WS Pro help for more information.

In IWLive Pro, demand pattern data comes from demand diagrams via the default simulation specified in the Default Model page of the Baseline.

Demand patterns can be configured to be updated from Live Data in IWLive Pro prior to a run.

Demand patterns are visualised and edited in the Profile Editor. This editor gets displayed when the button is clicked for a demand pattern in the Fields window (IWLive Pro Administrator) or the Demand Pattern window (IWLive Pro Operator).

Note:

Demand patterns are read-only for projection runs and are editable for new incident and response runs.
