Demand scaling allows adjustment of a group of demands and transfer flows (grouped by area and / or demand category ) by a constant percentage and/or by a time varying profile. This can be used to model changes in demand, for example forecast increase in demand. Demand scaling can be implemented:
- without altering the values for individual nodes. This type of scaling is available via the Demand Scaling Window of the IWLive Pro Operator Client Operator mode and can be applied to incident and response runs only. Scaling values entered in the grid are saved immediately and will be used when the incident or response run is simulated. The demand can be scaled in two modes: Area or Category .
- by editing flow data for transfer nodes. Demand scaling can also be achieved by linking a transfer node to a telemetry feed where the user selects whether to use the flow for last week, month, year etc, or the forecast flow from an external database. The flow values are obtained for the specified time relative to the simulation start time and substituted into the transfer node flow blob. Please refer to the Demand Scaling via transfer nodes topic for more information.
