Live data fields

Live data fields are displayed on the Live Data Point view, Live Data Feed view, and Live Data Composite Feed view.

Live data points coming from telemetry feeds reside in their original database and are accessed / loaded when required by InfoWorks WS Pro.

Live data points coming from flat files are not stored in the database. They remain in their original files for two reasons:

  • possible large size of data files

  • to avoid data duplication as this data may well be used in the organisation for other purposes

This data is displayed on the Live Data Point property sheet.

Note: Use the scroll bar at the bottom of the table to view its entire content.

Fields in the database

The database fields describe where the live data file is and what should be in it.

Data Source

Source of the data (file format for files, or LDF for live data feeds). One of:

SPECTRALOG

Format for data from SPECTRALOG loggers

SLI

Standard format for logger data

WISDOM

the ASCII format exported from SPECTRALOG loggers using the Wisdom32 software package

WESSEX

the special format used by WESSEX loggers

TSD

generic TSD data - another ASCII data file format

LDF indicates the that live data point is a live data feed

Source File

The name of the file containing the Live Data. The Source File field can contain an absolute or relative path to the file.

  • Absolute pathnames are the full path to the file, including the drive letter.

  • Relative pathnames are relative to the database location

Note: This field is empty for linked live data feeds.

Effective Channel Type

Dropdown list of types of live data that may be derived from the live data file values. The live data will be treated as the type selected in this field for graphing and calculation purposes.

For live data feeds, the Effective Channel Type is inferred from the External Units field of the Live Data Feed View. If the external units are not set to a flow, pressure, or concentration unit, the channel type will be set to NUMBER. Unit conversion is applied using the units set on the Live Data Feed View.
