After the inspection process is complete, upload the machine-generated results file to Drive to view the results in the cloud, or import the file into PowerInspect for further analysis.
To upload a results file to Drive
- Open your Drive folder in Windows Explorer.
Note: To work with Drive through Windows Explorer, you need to install Autodesk Desktop Connector.
- Click and drag your results file into the Drive folder.
Tip: Refresh Windows Explorer to update the progress of the file transfer.
- Right-click the results file in the Drive folder and choose
Go To.
The inspection results are displayed in your default browser using Drive's Viewer. The probed points are displayed on the CAD model using coloured confetti and arrows:
Blue confetti represents the probed points that are below tolerance, indicating missing material.
Green confetti represents the probed points that are within tolerance.
Yellow arrows represent points where a nominal CAD surface could not be found within the specified proximity criteria, indicating events where the probe came into contact with unexpected material.
Red confetti represents the probed points that are above tolerance, indicating an excess of material.
- Use the Drive viewer tools to examine your results:
- Click
to display the model browser, which lists the models and individual probed points in a tree view.
- Click a probed point in the model browser to locate the point in the graphics window.
- Click
to display detailed information about the selected probed point.
- Click

To customize how results are displayed in Drive
Modify the inspection_settings.xml file to customize the display properties of the probing results, for example: naming conventions, units, and decimal places.
- Navigate to the
inspection_settings.xml file.
Tip: The location is displayed in the Information dialog when the NC program is successfully written, for example:
- Open the settings file with your preferred text editor.
- For each property, edit the text between the appropriate element tags. For example, change the diameter of the confetti to
8.0.
- Save the file.
- Re-upload the results file to Drive to update the viewer with the new settings.
To import a results file into PowerInspect
- In PowerInspect, click File tab > New > New Document from OMV Results.
- In the Open dialog, choose the results file.
- If you want to the use the default report settings in PowerInspect, deselect Use settings file.
- Click OK. PowerInspect creates an inspection document with an inspection sequence.
