View tab > Navigate panel

Use the options in the Navigation panel to control the size and orientation of the graphics window and its contents.

Resize to Fit

Select this option to fit the view of the model to the graphics window.

This is the same as clicking the Resize to Fit button on the Views toolbar.

Zoom

Use the options on the Zoom menu to control the size at which the contents of the graphics window are displayed. Select:

  • Zoom to Box — to magnify a selected area to fill the graphics window:
    1. Select View tab > Navigate panel > Zoom > Zoom to Box. The cursor changes to .
    2. Click the graphics window, and, keeping the mouse button selected, drag a box around the area you want to magnify.
    3. Release the mouse button. The area enclosed by the box expands to fill the graphics window.

You can also zoom to box by:

  • holding Shift+Ctrl and dragging a box using the middle mouse button.
  • holding Alt and using the right mouse button.
  • clicking the Zoom to Box Mode button on the Views toolbar.
  • Zoom — to zoom in and out by dragging the cursor up and down the screen.
    This is the same as clicking the Zoom Mode button on the Views toolbar.
    Note: You can also zoom in and out by holding the Ctrl key + right mouse button, and dragging the cursor up and down.
  • Zoom In - to zoom in on the centre of the graphics window. The contents of the window are shown at twice original size.

    This is the same as clicking the Zoom In button on the Views toolbar.

  • Zoom Out - to zoom out of the centre of the graphics window. The contents of the window are shown at half original size.

    This is the same as clicking the Zoom Out button on the Views toolbar.

  • 1:1 - to show the model at actual size in the centre of the graphics window.

    This is the same as clicking the Zoom to Actual Size (1:1) button on the Views toolbar.

Rotate & Pan

Use the options on the Rotate & Pan menu to rotate and move the selected objects in the graphics window.

To rotate your selections:

  1. Select View tab > Navigate panel > Rotate & Pan > Lock Rotation Center to rotate around the centre of your selections; deselect Lock Rotation Centre to rotate around the default point specified by the Rotate Around option in the Options dialog.
  2. Select View tab > Navigate panel > Rotate & Pan > Rotate.
    Note: Alternatively, click the Rotate Mode button on the Views toolbar.
  3. Click the graphics window and keep the mouse button selected.
  4. Move the cursor in the direction in which you want to rotate the selections.
  5. When you have positioned your selections correctly, release the mouse button.

To move your selections:

  1. Select View tab > Navigate panel > Rotate & Pan > Pan.
    Note: Alternatively, click the Pan Mode button on the Views toolbar.
  2. Click the graphics window and keep the mouse button selected.
  3. Move the cursor in the direction in which you want to move the selections.
  4. When you have positioned your selections correctly, release the mouse button.
