Investigation request lifecycle

An investigation request's (IR) lifecycle is defined by its workflow. This is selected upon creating an IR, and can later be changed in the IR detail view, as long as the workflow has not yet been started.

Change an IR's workflow

  1. Open the Business processes (business processes) section of the project.

  2. Click the Investigation requests tab.

  3. Select the IR for which you want to start the workflow.

    Its detail view opens.

  4. Click Edit (edit).

  5. From the Workflow drop-down list, select the desired workflow.

  6. Click Save (save).

The buttons to start and reject the workflow appear at the top of the details pane.

Start an IR's workflow

  1. Open the Business processes (business processes) section of the project sidebar.

  2. Click the Investigation requests tab.

  3. Select the IR for which you want to start the workflow.

    Its detail view opens.

  4. Click Start Workflow in the details tab.

This initiates the workflow for the selected IR and the next steps in the workflow become visible in its detail view.

Note: The IR creator and assignee can start the workflow, but only the IR assignee can execute later workflow actions.

Investigation request statuses

As an IR progresses through its lifecycle, its status changes depending on how it is defined in the chosen workflow. There are many statuses that your Tenant Administrator may choose from when building the IR workflow.

However, in the IR table, an IR will fall into one of the following three status categories:

  • Draft - Workflow for the IR has not yet been started and may still be modified. The workflow must be started for the assignee to start working on it.
  • In Progress - The IR is currently being actively worked on.
  • Completed - The IR is considered finished.

Click a status at the top of the IR table to view all IRs that fall into that status category.
