Add and manage requirement relationships
The Relationships () tab is where you link a requirement to another requirement or another quality assurance (QA) process. You may specify how the requirements/QA processes depend on each other. This enables you to follow up on other requirements/QA processes that depend on the one you've just completed.
To add a relationship:
From the list of requirements, select the requirement to which you want to create a relationship.
Open the Relationships (
) tab.
Click Add.
From the first drop-down list, select the option that specifies how the requirement is linked to the other requirement/QA process.
In the box beside the drop-down list, begin typing the name of the requirement or QA process you want to link this requirement to.
A list of matching requirements/QA processes is shown.
Click the requirement/QA process you want to link to.
Click Add.
The relationship is added and shows the status of the linked requirement/QA process.
Repeat the above steps to add more than one relationship to a requirement.
- The relationship you added here is unidirectional, meaning the same relationship does not appear on the requirement/QA process you linked here. You would need to manually add the relationship going the other way.
- Upchain does not enforce these dependencies. It is up to you to specify the relationships and then follow through with them as you work through the requirements list.
Remove a relationship
- From the list of requirements, select the requirement from which you want to remove a relationship.
- Open the Relationships (
) tab.
- Beside the relationship you want to remove, click Delete (
).
The relationship is removed.
