Synchronize your ERP ID Numbers with your AutoCAD Mechanical ID Numbers to automate your item numbering process and eliminate unnecessary duplications.
- Configure Content in AutoCAD Mechanical
- Add PSEQUIVALENCE to the AutoCAD Template (DWT)
- Set the Equivalence Values in Vault
Configure Content in AutoCAD Mechanical
- Open AutoCAD Mechanical and click Content Manager on the AutoCAD Mechanical ribbon.
- Right-click on the file in AutoCAD Mechanical for which you want to synchronize ID numbers and select Edit. Note: You may see a disclaimer stating that Standard Content can only be edited for size or BOM properties in Family Table. This means that there are limitations on the content you can change and does not impact the changes you will make. Click Close to continue.
- De-select all columns.
- Click the Show icon and select Show Status and ID Columns.
- Add the ERP ID numbers (Item numbers) in the ID Column and select one of the listed values.
For example, you could set USERID, which is an internal name, to be the ID Number.
- Save your changes and close the Content Manager.
Configure AutoCAD Mechanical file properties so that they can be synchronized with Vault.
Add PSEQUIVALENCE to Your Company Template (DWT)
- In AutoCAD Mechanical, enter ACM options in the command line to open the Options dialog.
- Select the AM:Standards tab.
- Double-click BOM in the Standard elements list to edit it.
- Click the More button on the right side and add the new ID number property you created in the previous section.
This property was called USERID in our previous example.
- Create a new property called PSEQUIVALENCE and give it a Caption of PSEQUIVALENCE.
- Give the new PSEQUIVALENCE Property a Value equal to your ID Number property name. In our example, this would be a value of <USERID>.
- Drag and drop USERID and PSEQUIVALENCE to the following areas:
- Component Properties Tab
- BOM Tab
- Parts List Tab (as option only).
- Click OK to save your changes.
To avoid parts which are inserted mor than once or are assigned to another item number in a vault, add the PSEQUIVALENCE property to your DWT template.
Set the Equivalence Values in Vault
- In the Vault Client, go to .
- Select the Behaviors tab and click Properties.
- In the Property Definitions dialog box, select the Equivalence Value property from the list, and click Edit.
- Select the Mapping tab to see associated property mappings.
- Configure the Equivalence Value mappings as shown in this image.
- Click OK to save your changes and return to the Edit Property dialog.
- On the Edit Property dialog, select the (Item) Number property and add the ID Number from the DWG as the initial value, as shown in the following image.
- Select the Mapping tab for Number and map the (Item) Number property back to AutoCAD Mechanical, as shown.
- Click OK to save your changes and close the Edit Property dialog.
New item numbers will now be written back to the Part Reference in AutoCAD Mechanical.
After you have set up your AutoCAD Mechanical ID number property and PSEQUIVALENCE property, you can map the Equivalence values to Vault properties.
