Capture or revert position of components
Learn how to use the Capture Position and Revert commands to capture or revert the position of components in an assembly as you move them in the canvas in Fusion.
The Capture Position command captures the positions of components that you recently moved or rotated, when you intend to maintain the current position of components in the assembly as you continue editing and assembling components.
Capture position proactively
In the canvas, move or rotate one or more components.
The Position panel displays in the toolbar.
In the toolbar, select Position > Capture Position.
The current position of components in the assembly is captured.
Capture position when prompted
In the canvas, move or rotate one or more components.
The Position panel displays in the toolbar.
Select a command that depends upon the current position of components, like Joint Origin.
A message displays, notifies you that some components have moved, and prompts you to capture or revert their positions.
Click Capture Position.
The current position of components in the assembly is captured. You continue to the command you activated.
Revert position proactively
In the canvas, move or rotate one or more components.
The Position panel displays in the toolbar.
In the toolbar, select Position > Revert.
The components in the assembly revert to their most recently captured position.
Revert position when prompted
In the canvas, move or rotate one or more components.
The Position panel displays in the toolbar.
Select a command that depends upon the current position of components, like Joint Origin.
A message displays, notifies you that some components have moved, and prompts you to capture or revert their positions.
Click Continue.
The components in the assembly revert to their most recently captured position. You continue to the command you activated.
