Push to 3D PCB

When creating a 3D PCB from the 2D PCB design, you can specify the geometry to display, see which components do not have a 3D model, and other display options.

  1. In the Electronics workspace, on the 2D PCB document Design toolbar, click Switch > Push to 3D PCB Push to 3D PCB icon.

The 3D PCB document opens, displaying the 3D view of the PCB design.

  2. In the 3D PCB document, on the 3D PCB toolbar, click PCB > 3D PCB Settings to open the 3D PCB Settings dialog.

  3. In the 3d PCB Settings dialog, modify the settings as needed:

    • Presets provides a way to quickly specify the 3D view configuration.

      • Recommended: provides a balance of performance and utility.
      • Fastest: uses 2D images to represent all objects except the board and components.
      • Most Detailed: provides the most detailed information.
      • User Defined: enables when another preset is manually changed.
    • 3D Geometry to Include: determines which objects are included as 3D geometry, including solder masks, Stop Layer geometry, copper texts, polygons, traces, and vias.

    • Components: displays a list of components and an alert for any component that does not have an associated 3D model.

    • Options

      • Silkscreen Quality: select from

Low Low quality icon, Medium Medium quality icon, or High High quality icon

      • Replace Board Outline: this option enables if the board outline was derived from a model sketch, was edited in the 2D PCB document, and used to replace the board profile.

  4. Click Update to apply the changes and close the dialog.

Editing the 3D PCB Settings
