Create a Configured Design

Learn how to create a Configured Design where you can define Configurations as variations of a design in Fusion.

Create a Configured Design from scratch

1. Create a new design.

2. Use the modeling tools to create some initial components, user parameters, and geometry.

3. On the Design workspace toolbar, click Configure .

   The Configuration Table displays.

   You enter Configuration Mode, where configurable features and objects highlight in the Timeline and Browser

4. In the Configuration Table, add two or more Configurations.

   Each Configuration displays as a row.

5. In the Timeline or Browser, click a highlighted feature or object.

   The Configure dialog displays a list of configurable aspects.

6. Check the aspects you want to configure:

   • User Parameters (from the Parameters dialog)
   • Feature Parameters
   • Suppression
   • Visibility
   • Physical Material
   • Appearance
   • Sheet Metal Rules
   • Plastic Rules
   • Properties (from the Properties tab)

   Each configured aspect displays as a column.

7. Edit the values of the configured aspects for each Configuration.

8. Double-click each Configuration name to activate it.

9. Click Save.

The document is saved as a Configured Design .

Convert a Standard Design to a Configured Design

1. Open an existing Standard Design .

2. On the toolbar, click Configure .

   The Configuration Table displays and you enter Configuration Mode.

3. Add two or more configurations.

4. Configure one or more aspects.

5. Edit the values of the configured aspects for each Configuration.

6. Click Save.

The document is converted and saved as a Configured Design . The latest version of the Standard Design is converted to the first Configuration in the Configuration Table. The design history starts over for the Configured Design . The Standard Design history is preserved, and you can access previous changes and versions via the Data Panel.
