The following table provides descriptions of the files and folders that comprise a Fabrication database. Some of the files and folders listed below only get created when you use a certain function or feature. Therefore, depending on the Fabrication product(s) you use, and the features you use within those products, you may not have all of these files and folders in your databases.
File or Folder | Description |
BACKUP |
This folder is the default location that is used to store all files that are saved when a database is backed up. A different folder location may be specified when backing up a database. For more information, see Database Backup. |
Blocks |
This folder contains any custom blocks that are created using the Autodesk Fabrication products. By default, any custom blocks created are saved to this folder location; however, a different folder location can be specified. |
CNC |
This folder only exists if you have CAMduct installed, and only gets created and populated when you initiate CAMduct features, such as clicking the Write NC button to create NC data that can be used by an external cutting machine. When you use the Write NC feature in CAMduct, the specified folder, typically the CNC folder by default, gets populated with the NC data files that specify the cutting behavior (motion path and more) for the CNC machine. For more information, see Write NC. |
Database |
This folder contains various files with an extension of .MAP that make up many different types of settings that are specified in the Fabrication software. These files store information that define various settings for a variety of components of the Fabrication software, including Ancillaries, Bar codes, Connectors, Decoilers, Facings, Specification, Services, and more. For more information, see Database Settings. |
DXFS |
Whenever information is exported to a DXF file, the resulting DXF file is typically stored in this folder by default; however, a different folder can be specified. For more information, see DXF Exporting. |
Frame |
This folder contains files that maintain information about frames (also known as frame layouts) that have been created using the Fabrication software. For more information, see Frame Layout - Toolbar/Commands. |
FILTERS |
This folder contains files that maintain any search filters that have been created using the Fabrication products. |
IMAGES |
This folder contains the images files (typically .png) that display in the Item Folders view and in the Services palette for fabrication parts (items). Each image file is referenced by the .ITM file. |
Items |
This folder contains the .ITM files, and other associated files, such as the thumbnail image (.png) files associated with each item in a catalog folder (item folder). For more information, see Working with Items and Item Folders. |
MIS |
This folder contains files related to the default and custom reports that are installed, created, or saved with the Fabrication products. For more information, see Reporting & Printing. |
PROFILES |
This folder contains files that specify any profiles that are created using the Fabrication products. For more information, see Profiles. |
PROJECTS |
This folder contains files related to a particular project that has been created or saved using the Autodesk Fabrication products. |
REMNANTS |
When remnants are created or saved using the Autodesk Fabrication products, the resulting file that stores information about the remnant is saved in this location by default. For more information, see Remnants. |
SCRIPTS |
This folder contains and scripts that are created or saved using the Autodesk Fabrication products. |
TEXTURES |
This folder contains a variety of texture files that can be used to assign a texture to parts for visualization, and also for estimating. For example, the Facing dialog lets you add textures and costs which can then be used in the 3D Viewer for visualization, or for estimating. For more information, see Facings. |
Barscan.ini |
This file contains information that specifies a variety of settings related to bar codes and or QR codes that are used with the Tracker application. For example, this file includes definitions related to the communications port and other parameters related to using the bar code and QR code scanning features available with Tracker, and the Fabrication products. For more information, see Configuring Bar Codes and QR Codes. |
FOLDERS.INI |
This file contains a variety of information that is critical to the operation of the Fabrication software. NOTE: The FOLDERS.INI file and the map.ini file must be located in the same folder for the product to function properly. |
map.ini |
This file contains a variety of information that is critical to the operation of the Fabrication software. NOTE: The FOLDERS.INI file and the map.ini file must be located in the same folder for the product to function properly. |
