Tutorial: Motorcycle triple clamp - setup manufacturing methods
This tutorial leads you through the process of setting up different manufacturing methods to identify the best outcome that meets the manufacturing requirements.
The purpose of this tutorial is to redesign the motorcycle triple clamp using generative design to provide significant weight savings and choose the best manufacturing method.
In this tutorial, you perform the following activities:
- Open and save the sample, Motorcycle Triple Clamp, to a personal folder.
- Specify the following manufacturing methods:
- Unrestricted
- Additive
- 2.5-, 3-, and 5-axis milling
- 2-axis cutting
- Casting
- Verify the study status and generate outcomes.
- Explore outcomes using different Explore views to select the one that best meets the manufacturing requirements.
Prerequisites
- Some tasks, such as outcome generation and use of outcome-based designs, require tokens or the Fusion Simulation Extension.
If you don’t have either of those, you can still follow the tutorial by using sample files. In the Data Panel, you can find predefined sample files that are ready to generate, and ready to explore. Also, there are examples of exported outcomes for selected manufacturing methods. You can open them and start learning at any point you want: Generative Design Samples.
