The Project Management tab tracks the overall progress of tasks and items, providing project oversight in the form of a Gantt chart.
You can add different types of tasks to a project when creating the project schedule in the Project Management tab:
Manually scheduled tasks. Add tasks to the schedule as needed.
Tasks linked to items with workflow and revision control. These tasks are tracked by the linked items as they progress through a workflow or lifecycle. Information on the Project Management tab is dynamically updated and reflects actual progress and status.
Tasks linked to items with milestones. These tasks are also tracked by the linked items but progress and status information reflects milestone status.
Tasks linked to items that are themselves projects. Project tasks are ideal for tracking the overall health of a collection of related projects. Top-level projects can themselves be rolled up into overarching projects to provide an even higher level of project oversight.
