When using OCIO-based color management, the tone map is provided by the view transform. Therefore, you should not use any settings that apply non-linear exposure or other tone-mapping in the scene's Exposure Controls.
The following settings are compatible with OCIO-based color management:
- Setting Exposure Control to <no exposure control> is the simplest, especially if you are unfamiliar with exposure settings or color management.
- If you want to adjust the global exposure level, you can set Exposure Control to Linear Exposure Control. This lets you safely adjust the Exposure Value and Physical Scale.
- If you want to use vignetting or other linear physical camera effects, you can set Exposure Control to Physical Camera Exposure Control but you should not apply any non-linear exposure. To ensure this, leave the Image Control settings at their default values of Highlights 1.0, Midtones 1.0, and Shadows 0.0. Note that if you apply Physical Camera Exposure Control before switching to an OCIO-based mode, the defaults are different and you will need to set those values manually.
Other settings yield incorrect results because tone-mapping gets applied twice.
