About Groups

Groups are collections of different elements that can be handled at once by several tools. A group may contain any random collection of elements that are otherwise unrelated.

Groups are used for fast or easy selection and marking of elements to either work with them or use them for lists, drawings and NC creation. You can assign any element to one or several groups and use them to select, display and hide elements.

Once a group is defined it may be used in several ways:

  • To control whether the elements of a group are visible or hidden.
  • To select the elements of a group (no highlight).
  • To highlight the elements of a group.
  • To completely or partially check out the elements of a group.

There are two categories of groups:

  • From model views (contain the elements of a model view).
  • Defined by specified criteria (can contain elements from different views).

Groups are listed on the Structures tab of the Project Explorer and can be organized in folders. The groups are sorted alphabetically in their folder. Groups can be moved from one folder into another by drag and drop.

Note:
  • The groups can only be dropped on group folders from the same building.
  • Groups can be turned on and off by clicking the light bulb in front of their name.
  • If no group is active, then all elements of the model are displayed.
  • Only the elements of the active groups are displayed. These elements are filtered further by the active model views and by the active queries.
