Working with multi-channel NC Programs in PartMaker/SwissCAM and /Turn-Mill

When using PartMaker/SwissCAM and PartMaker/Turn-Mill, some machines require multi-channel NC Program output. Depending on the machine and postprocessor used, PartMaker combines these channels into a single NC Program file or stores each channel in a separate file.

Viewing multi-channel NC Programs

PartMaker displays up to four separate channels in different panels in the NC Program window.

When a single NC Program file contains multiple channels, PartMaker recognizes the delimiters which denote the different channels. For example, the file below is split into three channels using the delimiters $1, $2, and $3:

When multiple NC Program files each contain a separate channel, PartMaker shows each file in its own channel. For example, the two files below, H1 and H2, are each shown in their own channel:

Aligning multi-channel NC Programs

PartMaker can align the content in all the channels according to 'wait' and 'sync' codes.

To align the different channels, click :

Note: PartMaker aligns channels in the NC Program by matching identical 'wait' and 'sync' codes across the different channels. The majority of multi-channel machines for which PartMaker can provide Post Configuration files use this method of synchronization. However, if you are using a machine that synchronizes using other methods (for example, by matching pre-defined, non-identical wait codes), the Align button is unavailable.

When the NC Program window displays aligned, multi-channel output, PartMaker also reflects this layout in printed output. For example:
