Input Transform Tool
The Input Transform tool allows you to convert from an input colour space to a working colour space (or vice versa). The Input Transform tool in Timeline or Batch is equivalent to the Auto Convert mode in MediaHub.
The processing for this tool is provided by an OCIO ColorSpaceTransform.
To use the Input Transform tool:
- Select a source or input colour space from the Input Colour Space menu. In Batch or the Timeline, select "From Source" to have the input space set automatically from the tagging of the input clip. In MediaHub, select "From File or Rules" to automatically set the input space from the file metadata or the Input Rules.
- Select a destination working colour space from the Working Space menu. In MediaHub, select "From Project" to have the working space set automatically from the project default.
By enabling the Invert button, you are able to convert from a working space back to an input space. This is useful when you need to deliver material in the same colour space as the original.
The metadata panel on the right provides detailed information about the colour processing operators that will be used to perform the requested transformation.
Adding a LUT as a User-defined Input Colour Space
In a large facility, additions to the OCIO config should be made by a colour scientist or colour supervisor. For smaller facilities without that support, you may add a colour space directly from the application user interface. For example, as new colour spaces are introduced in the industry, there is a trend to making them available as CTF files that are compatible with OCIO.
By choosing "+ Add New" from the Input Colour Space menu, you may add your own LUT or colour transform as a User Colour Space. When you do this, a copy of your LUT will be made under the project so that it will get Archived and Wired with any media that uses it.
The new colour space will be stored in the project's overrides to your OCIO config. It will be available in various colour space menus throughout the application, organized into the "User" sub-menu.
The following information must be provided:
Transform File option
Browse to select the LUT or colour transform file to use for your new colour space.
Transform Name option
Enter the name you want to see in menus for this new colour space.
Viewing Rule Eligibility option
Specifies how the colour space is handled by the Views editor's Allowed Colour Spaces filter. For example, if you identify the user colour space as Log, then it is considered as part of the "Any Log" and "Any Scene-linear or Log" viewing rules.
Destination Colour Space option
Choose the colour space that your LUT or colour transform outputs. This allows the application to calculate the transform needed to connect your colour space to the other colour spaces.
