Cascading Effects

The Cascade menu contains parameters used to offset the timing of animated character attributes, making it possible to create effects such as a reveal or characters popping.

Direction option

Select the direction of the cascading effect.

Select: To:
Left to Right Start cascading from the left.
Symmetric Start cascading from the middle.
Right to Left Start cascading from the right.
Custom Anchor Set a custom character anchor from which the symmetry effect will start.
Random Apply cascading in a random pattern, starting from a random position.

Time Offset field

Sets by how many frames the animation is delayed from one character to the next.

Important: Modifying this parameter updates the cascading from one character to another. To modify the animation's timing on the attributes or axis transformations, changes must be made to these parameters.

Anchor Character field

Sets the character from which the symmetry effect starts.

Note: The widget for the custom anchor is displayed in green when Show Axes is enabled for the Characters Axis.

Seed field

Sets a different starting point for the random combination.

Scoping option

Select the scoping of the cascading effect.

Select: To:
Layer The layer is considered as one block .
Paragraph Characters from each paragraph are considered as one block.
Line The cascade is synchronized for each line.
Word The cascade is synchronized for each word.

Grouping option

Select how characters are grouped in the cascading effect.

Select: To:
Paragraph Each paragraph is animated as a single unit in the cascade.
Line Each line is animated as a single unit in the cascade.
Word Each word is animated as a single unit in the cascade.
Character Each character is animated individually.
Note: The Scoping value must be larger than the Grouping value for the cascade to work effectively. Selecting the same option for both the Scoping and Grouping options will not yield a valid result.
