Selection Menu

The available options on the Selection Menu are as follows:

Menu item

Description

SQL select

Permits an SQL query to be written to perform a selection on the current network. See SQL Queries for more information.

Availability: Whenever a GeoPlan or network Grid Window is the currently active window.

Toolbar: Selection

Keyboard Shortcut: None

Save selection

Saves the current selection as a new selection list, or to overwrite an existing selection list.

Select a Selection List Group, type in a Selection List name and click Save to save current selection as a new selection list.
Select an existing Selection List and click Save to overwrite an existing Selection List.

If the Excluded object select tool or menu option is turned on, then any currently selected excluded objects will also be included in the selection list.

Availability: Whenever a GeoPlan or network Grid Window is the currently active window.

Select all objects

Selects all objects in the current network.

If the Excluded object select tool or menu option is turned on, then all excluded objects will also be selected.

Availability: Whenever a GeoPlan or network Grid Window is the currently active window.

Toolbar: Selection

Keyboard Shortcut: None

Clear selection

Clears the current object selection from the current network.

If the Excluded object select tool or menu option is turned on, then any currently selected excluded objects will also be cleared.

Availability: Whenever a GeoPlan or network Grid Window is the currently active window.

Toolbar: Selection

Keyboard Shortcut: None

Invert selection

Inverts the current object selection. Currently selected objects will be de-selected; all objects that are not currently selected form the new selection.

This also applies to any selected excluded objects if the Excluded object select tool or menu option is turned on.

Availability: Whenever a GeoPlan or network Grid Window is the currently active window.

Refine selection

Enables refinement of the current selection of network objects to include connected or associated network objects.

This also applies to any selected excluded objects if the Excluded object select tool or menu option is turned on.

Availability: Whenever a GeoPlan or network Grid Window is the currently active window.

Excluded selected object selection

Enables the selection of excluded objects from any scenario except the base network. See the description of the Excluded object select tool for further information.

Availability: Whenever a scenario GeoPlan is the currently active window and the Show base scenario object ghosts option is checked in the Visual tab of the GeoPlan properties.

Toolbar: Excluded object select

Keyboard Shortcut: None

Save all nodes selection

Applicable to SWMM Networks only.

Saves all the nodes in the current SWMM network as a new selection list, or overwrites an existing selection list.

Type in a Selection List name and click Save to save all the nodes as a new selection list.
Select an existing Selection List and click Save to overwrite an existing selection list.

This also applies to excluded nodes if the Excluded object select tool or menu option is turned on.

Save all links selection

Applicable to SWMM Networks only.

Saves all the links in the current SWMM network as a new selection list, or overwrites an existing selection list.

Type in a Selection List name and click Save to save all the links as a new selection list.
Select an existing Selection List and click Save to overwrite an existing selection list.

Save all subcatchments selection

Applicable to SWMM Networks only.

Saves all the subcatchments in the current SWMM network as a new selection list, or overwrites an existing selection list.

Type in a Selection List name and click Save to save all the subcatchments as a new selection list.
Select an existing Selection List and click Save to overwrite an existing selection list.

Select outfall links

Selects all links connected to an outfall node. (The current selection will be cleared prior to selection of outfall links.)

This also applies to excluded outfall links if the Excluded object select tool or menu option is turned on.

Availability: Whenever a GeoPlan or network Grid Window is the currently active window.

Toolbar: None

Select isolated nodes

Selects all nodes that are not connected to a link. (The current selection will be cleared prior to selection of isolated nodes.)

This also applies to excluded nodes if the Excluded object select tool or menu option is turned on.

Availability: Whenever a GeoPlan or network Grid Window is the currently active window.

Toolbar: None

Select objects in selected polygons

Selects all object within currently selected polygon objects.

The current selection will be cleared and all objects with centroid within currently selected polygons and the polygons themselves will be selected.

This also applies to any excluded objects within the currently selected polygon if the Excluded object select tool or menu option is turned on.

Availability: Whenever a GeoPlan or network Grid Window is the currently active window and there is a selection of one or more polygon objects from the network.

Select changed

Selects network objects which have been changed since changes to the network were last committed.

The current selection of objects will be cleared prior to selection of changed objects.

Availability: Whenever a GeoPlan or network Grid Window is the currently active window.

Selection operations

Contains menu items enabling operations to be carried out on currently selected objects.

Menu Item	Description
Count selected objects	For InfoWorks networks - Displays a count of the number of currently selected nodes, links and subcatchments categorised by system type. If the selection contains any 2D zones or base, bridge or sluice linear structures, the number of these will also be displayed. For SWMM networks - Displays a count of the number of nodes, links, subcatchments and points included in the current selection. If the Excluded object select tool or menu option is turned on, then any currently selected excluded objects will also be included in the count. Availability: Whenever a GeoPlan or network Grid Window is the currently active window. Toolbar: None Keyboard Shortcut: None
Custom label selected objects	Adds custom labels to currently selected objects. See Displaying Labels on the GeoPlan for more information. If the Excluded object select tool or menu option is turned on, custom labels can also be added to selected excluded objects. Availability: Whenever a GeoPlan is the currently active window. Delete all selected objects	Deletes all currently selected objects. Availability: Whenever a GeoPlan or network Grid Window is the currently active window. Toolbar: None Keyboard Shortcut: Delete
Change line/polygon type	Displays the Change Line/Polygon Type Dialog, allowing selected lines and/or polygons to be changed from the current type to another type. Availability: Whenever a GeoPlan or network Grid Window of a network is the currently active window, and there is a current selection of lines and/or polygons. Toolbar: None Keyboard Shortcut: None Applicable to InfoWorks networks only.
Geographically adjust selection	Enables the currently selected objects to be moved by adjustment of X and Y coordinates. Availability: Whenever a GeoPlan or network Grid Window of a checked out network is the currently active window. Toolbar: None Keyboard Shortcut: None
Adjust selected values	Enables the replacement or adjustment of the value of one or more fields for a set of currently selected network objects. See Adjusting Parameters for Selected Objects for more information. Availability: Whenever a GeoPlan or network Grid Window of a network is the currently active window. Reverse links	Reverses the direction of all currently selected links. Availability: Whenever a GeoPlan or network Grid Window of a network is the currently active window, and there is a current selection of links. Toolbar: Selection Keyboard Shortcut: None
Graph results	Enables display of a results graph for all currently selected objects. See Results on Graph Views for more information. Availability: Whenever a GeoPlan or network Grid Window with associated simulation results is the currently active window and there are objects currently selected. Toolbar: Results Keyboard Shortcut: None
Grid results	Enables display of a time varying results grid for a chosen parameter for currently selected objects. See Results on Grid Windows for more information. Availability: Whenever a GeoPlan or network Grid Window with associated simulation results is the currently active window and there are objects currently selected.
