What's new in version 2024.1

This topic lists the additions and improvements incorporated in InfoWorks® WS Pro Version 2024.1 which were not available in previous versions.

Please note that this new version also includes various bug fixes that are described in detail in the Release Notes.

Cloud capabilities

This release version builds upon the cloud integration launch that started in version 2024. Learn more here.

Improved performance of upload and download for cloud multi-simulation runs

There is significant performance improvement in upload and download for cloud multi-simulation runs.

EPANET 2 exporter can now use Asset ID

The EPANET 2 exporter can now use Asset IDs instead of Object IDs. The option Use Asset ID if available is added in the EPANET 2 Export Data dialog. Also, the IDs are shortened to 31 characters if necessary. The original object ID is shown as a comment at the end of each line, if it has been changed.

Associate Live Data Configuration with the network

A box for Live Data Configuration has been added in the Associate Control dialog. A live data configuration dropped into this box from the Model Group window will be associated with the network.

Service level analysis for Generalised Multi Run

You can now perform service level analysis for Generalised Multi Run. A new option, Perform Service Level Analysis, is now available in the Analysis tab of the Generalised Multi Run Configuration dialog. When selected, you can set up the critical link analysis options for minimum and maximum pressure, event demand efficiency, and failure count type. You can also select if you want exclude certain nodes from the analysis.

Iteration Steps for Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV)

A new option for iteration step (iter step) is made available for Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV). When enabled, this may help stabilize networks with multiple PRVs by delaying control valve setting changes between iterations. By default, this is set to 0, which means that this function is disabled and there is no iter step. Setting this to any positive integer (1, 2, 3, etc.) enables this function. Individual valve settings override global settings indicated in the Simulation Defaults page.

Using the ODIC to import networks from File Geodatabases

When using the 64 bit version of InfoWorks WS Pro, networks can now be imported using the new File Geodatabase option in the Open Data Import Centre (ODIC). This option will import ESRI shapefile (SHP) folders, however, unlike the existing Geodatabases option, an ArcGIS™ license is not required to use it.

Using the ODEC to export networks to File Geodatabases

When using the 64 bit version of InfoWorks WS Pro, networks can now be exported using the new File Geodatabase option in the Open Data Export Centre (ODEC). This option will export network data to a new or existing selected feature class in a Geodatabase. Unlike the existing Geodatabase option, an ArcGIS™ license is not required to use the new File Geodatabase option.

Improvements to the Find Network Objects dialog

Finding objects is now easier with the implementation of the following:

Default state with objects checked on:

  • Check on nodes and links.
  • Text box is empty by default - no matched objects in the Find Network Objects dialog, which allows it to load quickly.

Auto-wildcard behavior:

  • Once you start typing, the application assumes that there is a wildcard at the beginning and end of the text.
  • Once you manually add a wildcard "*", the auto-wildcard will be discontinued and the application will just use the provided text.

Shorter names for window tabs

The name that appears on top of several window tabs and dialogs have been shortened for easy navigation. This comes in handy especially during multi-window results exploration when multiple windows, graphs, and dialogs are open.

The Network, Demand Diagram, Demand Scaling, Electricity Tariff, Fire Flow, Generalised Multi Run Configuration, Solute Data, Live Data Configuration, Network with simulation on top, Simulation results, Output graphs, and Grid windows are improved.

Transportable databases for copying data between cloud and on-premise databases

You can now use a transportable database to copy data (other than results) between a cloud database and a standard workgroup or standalone on-premise database.

Removal and replacement of the term Master

The term Master has been removed from the software and the help. This means that, for example, the File options, such as Open/Create master database and Open another master database, are renamed as Open/Create database and Open another database.

Also, Master Group is now known as General Group.

There have been no changes to the functionality of such items; they have simply been renamed.

Note that some of the images included in the help may still include this term, however, these are in the process of being updated.
