USD for Maya v0.34.0 Release Notes
Release Highlights
Asset Resolver. The newly added Asset Resolver automates path resolution and streamlines asset loading using search paths and tokens. This reduces errors and broken paths, letting you focus on creative work instead of troubleshooting file paths. This feature is available on Windows and Linux.
Layer content view. The new Display Layer Content option in the USD Layer Editor provides a clear look into the contents of a selected layer, helping you quickly understand and debug layer data.
Improved support for left-handed meshes in USD Importer. We've enhanced support for left-handed meshes when importing USD files. This update fixes issues that previously caused incorrect UVs or normals during import.
New option in USD Importer. We've added a new option to the USD Importer to enable the Euler Filter, which corrects certain rotation issues.
Lighting enhancement. Starting in Maya 2026.3, we now support lighting and shadows with USD RectLight prims.
New icons. We've added new icons for various prim types, including Class prims.
Ability to create Class prim. You can now create Class prims directly in Maya.
Support for plane primitives as a default type. Plane primitives are now available as a default type, letting you create them directly from the right-click menu.
MaterialX as the default material export target. We've updated the default material export target from USD Preview Surface to MaterialX. This change applies to new installations of Maya USD and does not affect existing installations.
Hydra 0.7.3. USD for Maya now integrates Hydra 0.7.3, providing the latest updates and improvements to Hydra rendering.
