To view and update probe paths

The Features tab is displayed when you create or select an item for which a probe path can be specified. Use it to view and update the probe path with which the selected item will be measured.

You can create probe paths for CNC Surface Points groups CNC Edge Points groups, and for probed planes, lines, circles (arcs), cones, cylinders, slots, spheres, single points, and rectangles.

Note: CNC groups are available only when creating inspections for CNC and OMV machines.

The way in which you use the tab depends on the type of item you create; the following examples illustrate the various methods:

To create a CNC Surface Points group:

  1. Click Home tab > Create panel > CNC Surface Group.
  2. The Probe Path Editor is enabled and the Surface Inspect dialog is displayed in the Features tab.
  3. In the CAD view, click the surface you want to inspect at the positions where you want to probe the part.
  4. When you have finished, click to save the inspection group.

To create a Probed Plane item:

  1. Open a geometric group.
  2. Click Home tab > Create panel > Geometry > Probed Plane.

The Plane Inspect dialog is displayed in the Features tab.

  3. In the CAD view, double-click three or more points on the model.

The background of the point counter changes from red to green to indicate you have selected the minimum number of points required to measure the item.

  4. In the Plane Inspect dialog, select a probing method for the item.
  5. When you have finished, click to create a plane item.

To create a Probed Circle item using the Wireframe Checker:

  1. Select Home tab > Mouse Context panel > Wireframe Checker.
  2. In the CAD view, move the mouse cursor over the circle you want to measure.
  3. When the circle is highlighted in yellow, left-click. The details of the circle are displayed in the Arc Inspect dialog in the Features tab.
