You can edit the material of a face of a solid using the Make Colours from Features option on the Solid context menu.
To change the appearance of the faces of a solid:
- Ensure that the default Single colour for line style and material option on the Levels and Styles Options dialog is deselected.
- Right-click a selected solid and select
Make colours from features from the context menu. This sets the material of each feature to a particular material colour.
The colour depends on the type of feature and is defined in the powershape.con file, which is located by default at C:\Program Files\Autodesk\PowerShapexxxxx\sys\misc.
Note: If the Single colour for line style and material option is selected, this option will not work.
With the Single colour for line style and material option turned off, you can also change the colour of the wireframe, or material of the faces of a solid, independently of the other using:
- Home tab > Style panel > Colour to change the colour of the wireframe.
- Visualisation tab > Format panel > Material to change the material of solid faces.
To quickly re-synchronise the material of the faces with the colour of the wireframe, right-click an empty area of the graphical window, and select Use Wireframe Colour from the context menu.
Alternatively, by leaving the default Single colour for line style and material option selected, any change to the material of a face is automatically applied to the corresponding wireframe, and vice versa.
