Linked Items tab

The Linked items tab Linked items tab allows you to create links between items in Upchain, such as items that can be substituted for each other, items that reference the same documents, items from across engineering disciplines, and so on.

For example, you may link the electrical circuit board from an electrical package to the item in your mechanical BOM that represents the circuit board’s housing to show that they correspond to the same physical component.

Add a linked item

Note: We refer to "item A" and "item B" in the following instructions to make it clear which items are involved in each step.
  1. Locate "item B" that you want to link to using a Quick search or Advanced search.
  2. Copy bm-quick-web-copy-07 "item B" to your clipboard. Close the search window.
  3. Load "item A" into the center view and open its item detail pane. Open the Linked items tab.
  4. Click Add link add link.
  5. Select Paste.

The link between "item A" and "item B" is bidirectional, that is, "item A" appears in the Linked items tab for "item B" and "item B" appears in the Linked items tab for "item A".

The link is maintained even when new versions are subsequently created for these items.
