Categorization tab

The Categorization categorization tab tab is where you can view and assign categorization to an item.

Categorization is a classification system for items. It differs from item attributes in that it is only assigned to items as needed and does not necessarily apply to all items.

Once assigned, categorization can be used as search criteria in an Advanced search to narrow down your search results.

Note: Your Tenant Administrator must first create the categorization structure and attributes before it can be applied to items. Autodesk recommends creating categorization early in your Upchain journey so that you and your team can begin applying it to items as they are being created.

For example, you might have a category of "fasteners" with sub-categories such as bolts, nuts, screws, washers, and so on. Further, you might have categorization attributes that describe the length, width, thread count, and so on for each of these sub-categories.

Note: Categorization is not displayed in the eBOM table.
