Where Used tab

The Where used Where used tab tab shows where the item is currently being used throughout your tenant, including other projects, assemblies, and activities.

This is very important tab to consult before editing an item as it can help you see how changes to the item may affect other projects and designs throughout your organization.

Note: If your tenant administrator has enabled the tenant property private.floating.items then, you may not see all items in this section.
Note: You may still see projects and items that you do not have permission to access listed in this section. Upchain shows an error message if you attempt to access anything you do not have permission to access.

eBom

The eBom section of this tab shows the As Saved eBOM, that is, the eBOM as it was saved or checked into Upchain.

When you click an item in the eBom section, you are taken to the project it belongs to and it is shown under the As Saved eBOM filter, as long as you have permission to do so.

The tree structure in the eBom section is displayed in reverse order. In other words, the first level is the item you selected, the level below that is the item's parent, the level below that is the item's grandparent, and so on. If the item is not associated with a project under the As Saved eBOM filter, the deepest level node is the end item. Otherwise, the deepest level node is the project associated with the item.

When there is no project associated with the item under As Saved eBOM filter, Upchain shows an error message indicating you do not have permission to access the projects associated with the item when you click any item in the eBom section. This means that you cannot access the item from the Where used tab. However, you may be able to access the item through other methods, such as a search.

Manufacturer

The Manufacturer section shows any associated manufacturers. These would have been added from the Details tab.

Activities

The Activities section shows any project tasks, change requests, change notices, and investigation requests associated with the item.

Genealogy

The Genealogy section shows the genealogy of the item, that is, its previous revisions and if it was copied from another item.

Projects

The eBOM shown under the Projects section of this tab depends on whether the project has an effective date defined.

If it does, then the Projects section shows the eBOM as it exists under the Effective Date filter. If you click an item under the Effective Date filter, it opens to the project it belongs to under the Effective Date filter as well. If there is no effective date defined, then it shows the As Saved eBOM and would open to the As Saved eBOM when clicked.

Customers

The Customers section shows all customers associated with the item. This is driven by the customer set for the projects to which the item belongs.
