Electronic library - Component attributes
Electronic library attributes are properties that store key data about components, component variants, or libraries in Fusion Electronics. Attributes help define important information such as datasheets, BOM data, physical properties, and simulation details. This information travels with the component as it is used in schematics and downstream workflows.
Default attributes
When you create a new component, Fusion Electronics assigns these attributes by default:
- CATEGORY_L1: Primary category (such as Resistor, Sensor).
- CATEGORY_L2: Secondary category (such as Fixed vs. Trimpot, or Magnetic vs. Accelerometer)
- DATASHEET: Link to component datasheet.
- MANUFACTURER: Component maker name.
- MPN: Manufacturer part number.
- VALUE: Component value (resistance, capacitance, etc.).
- VENDOR: Supplier or vendor name.
- VPN: Vendor part number.
Fill out these attributes so the data is ready when you place the component in schematics and link it to your BOM.
Optional attributes
When applicable, you can add the following optional attributes using the Create Attribute dialog:
- DESCRIPTION: Component notes.
- MAXTEMP: Max operating temperature.
- OPERATING_TEMPERATURE: Standard operating temperature range.
- PACKAGE: Physical package type (Surface Mount or Through Hole)
- PACKAGE_SIZE: Physical package size.
- PART_STATUS: Component lifecycle status (Active, Obsolete, etc.).
- POPULARITY: Usage frequency or popularity metric.
- ROHS: RoHS compliance status (Compliant or Non-compliant).
- SERIES: Component series or family.
- THERMALLOSS: Thermal loss data.
Custom attributes
You can also define custom attributes for libraries, components, or component variants using the Attributes dialog. Custom attributes allow you to track specific data that is not covered by the default or optional attributes. For more information, see the documentation on Create a new attribute.
