Create an axis through a cylinder, cone, or torus

Learn how to use the Axis Through Cylinder/Cone/Torus tool to create a construction axis through the center of a cylinder, cone, or torus in Fusion.

  1. On the toolbar, select Construct > Axis Through Cylinder/Cone/Torus axis through cylinder/cone/torus icon.

    The Construction Geometry dialog displays, Type is set to Axis and Method is set to Through Cylinder/Cone/Torus.

  2. Select an Extent Type option to establish the end point of the axis.

  3. In the canvas, select a cylindrical, conical, or toroidal face.

  4. Click OK.

The new construction axis displays in the canvas, at the center of the cylinder, cone, or torus you selected.

Tips

  • You can only create one construction axis at a time.
  • Create construction axes when you want to reference an axis or edge that does not exist and is not one of the 3 default axes.
