Navigate between documents in an Electronics Design
Navigate between documents to switch seamlessly between schematic, 2D PCB, and 3D PCB views within a single electronics design. This lets you work across different design stages without losing your progress or breaking connections between documents.
Fusion's Electronics workspace keeps all three document types linked together. You can move between them at any time to update your design or check how changes affect other views.
How Document Switching Works
You can switch between documents using two methods:
- Document tabs: Click the tabs at the top of the Fusion window
- Switch actions: Use the Design toolbar buttons in each document type
When you switch to a document that doesn't exist yet, Fusion creates it automatically and links it to your electronics design.
Switch Options by Document Type
Switch from Schematic
- Switch to 2D PCB: Opens the linked 2D PCB document. If no 2D PCB exists, Fusion creates and links one automatically.
Switch from 2D PCB
- Switch to Schematic: Opens the linked schematic document
- Switch to 3D PCB: Opens the linked 3D PCB document. If no 3D PCB exists, Fusion creates and links one automatically. This replaces the old "Push to 3D PCB" workflow.
Switch from 3D PCB
- Switch to 2D PCB: Opens the linked 2D PCB document
What Happens When You Switch
When you switch to a document:
- If the document is already open: Fusion brings it to the front
- If the document exists but isn't open: Fusion opens it automatically
- If the document doesn't exist: Fusion creates a new one and links it to your electronics design
