Create a linked PCB

Use the Create Linked PCB tool to create a PCB as an external component and insert it into the active design.

  1. In the Design workspace, select Create > Create PCB > Create Linked PCB.

    The Create Linked PCB dialog displays.

  2. In the Create Linked PCB dialog, enter a unique Name for the PCB.

  3. Location: the new PCB is saved here. The project folder where the current design is saved is automatically selected. Fusion automatically saves it in the same location as its parent. To change the location:

    a. Click the folder name or the [x].

    The Select Folder dialog displays.

    b. In the Select Folder dialog, navigate to the new location where you want to save the design.

    c. Click Select.

  4. Optional: Select a Parent if different from the default.

  5. Optional: Uncheck the Activate box if you don't want to activate the new component after you create it.

  6. Click OK.

Note: A newly created Linked PCB opens in Edit-in-place. To create the board body, you need to have a closed profile in the Outline Sketch and select it in the Define Board tool.
