Coil reference (Solid)
The Coil tool creates a solid body in the shape of a primitive helix in Fusion.
Design > Solid > Create > Coil
Type
Select the type of coil to create.
- Revolution And Height: Creates a coil with a specific number of revolutions and a specific height.
- Revolution And Pitch: Creates a coil with a specific number of revolutions and a specific pitch.
- Height And Pitch: Creates a coil with a specific height and a specific pitch.
- Spiral: Creates a coil in a spiral, using the same settings as the Revolution And Pitch coil type, without an Angle value.
Rotation
Click to switch the rotation of the coil from clockwise to counterclockwise, or vice versa.
Radius
Specify the radius of the coil from the center of the coil to the center of the profile.
Revolutions
Specify the number of revolutions the coil makes.
Height
Specify the height of the coil from the center of the profile at the start to the center of the profile at the end.
Pitch
Specify the elevation gain of each revolution of the helix.
Angle
Specify the taper angle for all coil types except spiral.
Section
Select the shape of the section profile.
- Circular: Sweeps a circular section profile along the coil path.
- Square: Sweeps a square section profile along the coil path.
- Triangular (External): Sweeps an equilateral triangular section profile along the coil path, pointed to the outside of the coil.
- Triangular (Internal): Sweeps an equilateral triangular section profile along the coil path, pointed to the inside of the coil.
Section Position
Specify the position of the section profile on the coil.
- Inside: Positions the section inside the coil diameter.
- On Center: Centers the section on the coil diameter.
- Outside: Positions the section outside the coil diameter.
Section Size
Specify the diameter of the section profile. The size of the profile is determined by a circumscribed sketch circle.
Operation
Select an operation to control how the feature affects the design.
Join: Combines the new body with an existing body.
Cut: Cuts an area out of an existing body.
Intersect: Creates a body at the intersection of an existing body and the new body.
New Body: Creates a new body in the active component.
New Component: Creates a new body in a new component.
Objects To Cut
Select to recompute bodies or maintain the current bodies.
- Auto-Select re-computes the bodies to cut based on the current visibility state.
- # Bodies cuts the same bodies that were included when the cut operation was created.
Available for cut operations only. The option is only active when you edit operations.
When you create a cut operation, the bodies to affect are determined based on visibility. Bodies that are visible will participate. Bodies that are not visible will not participate.
When you edit the operation in the timeline, the cut is recalculated. You can choose to recompute the bodies to cut (Auto-select) or keep the bodies that were used when the operation was created (# Bodies).
