Create a solid torus

Learn how to use the Torus tool to create a solid body in the shape of a primitive torus in Fusion.

torus example

  1. On the toolbar, click Solid > Create > Torus torus icon.

  2. In the canvas, select a plane or planar face.

  3. Place the center point of the torus.

  4. Place a point on circumference of the torus, or specify an exact Diameter value, to define the base of the torus.

    The Cylinder dialog displays.

  5. Drag the Inner Diameter and Torus Diameter manipulator handles in the canvas to adjust the size of the torus, or specify exact values.

  6. Select a Position setting:

    • Inside: Positions the torus inside the torus diameter.
    • On Center: Centers the torus on the torus diameter.
    • Outside: Positions the torus outside the torus diameter.
  7. Select an Operation, and adjust its associated settings:

    • join icon Join: Combines the new body with an existing body.
    • cut icon Cut: Removes an area from an existing body.
      • Objects to Cut: Check or uncheck objects to cut.
    • intersect icon Intersect: Creates a body at the intersection of an existing body and the new body.
      • Objects to Cut: Check or uncheck objects to cut.
    • new body icon New Body: Creates a new body in the active component.
    • new component icon New Component: Creates a new body in a new component.
  8. Click OK.

The solid body displays in the canvas, in the shape of a primitive torus.
