When you work offline, you must select an industry model template. The name of the template is stored in the enterprise industry model, and with the drawing that is created for your offline editing session. It ensures that you are working with the same set of data when you open this project from different clients.
If you create your own industry model template, there are two way to do this; create one manually, or reverse engineer an existing template.
Note: It's very important to keep the enterprise industry model and the industry model template in sync. Whenever you add a new feature class in the enterprise industry model, you also have to add it in your template.
Once you have associated a template with the offline drawing, editing offline is much faster.
You can associate a template with an enterprise industry model that contains a single project. Templates are not available for enterprise industry models that contain multiple industry models.
You can change the template later by deleting the current template and selecting a new one. Before you change the template, make sure all changes are checked in for this enterprise industry model. Users with checked-out data might not be able to check in their changes if the schema in the new template does not match the old one.

To reverse engineer an industry model template
To create an industry model template following a semi-automated workflow, you can use the 'Create From Industry Model' option found in the Industry Model Editor. Follow these steps to export an existing enterprise industry model schema into an XML file.
Note: Using the default filter (MY.*) while generating the *.genx will not export Representations, Point Numbering, and Feature Searches.

- Load the customized data model (*.genx) file you created above.
- Select the required Extensions and Modules, and click OK.

- • Manually re-create the view definitions required.
- Label definitions contain provider specific functions
- Start Autodesk Infrastructure Administrator and open the industry model template.
- Update all label definitions containing provider specific statements.
